Origin: Austria - Wachau | Variety: Grüner Veltliner | Producer: Domäne Wachau
Domäne Wachau is one of Austria’s most renowned wineries, based in Austria’s most prestigious wine growing region, the Wachau. Steep terraced yineyards, a cool, marginal climate and meagre primary rock soils define the wines. „Federspiel“ stands for dry, medium bodied and elegantly balanced wines of the Wachau.
The grapes for the „Weissenkirchen“-wines (one of Domäne Wachau‘s „village“-bottlings) are sourced from vineyards surrounding the „commune“ of Weissenkirchen. This „commune“ includes, besides Weissenkirchen itself, the Wachau villages of Joching, Wösendorf and St. Michael. The wines display the uniquely elegant and mineral style that is typical for this part of the Wachau. Vineyards include premium sites such as Achleiten, Klaus, Kollmütz and Weitenberg.
Crystal clear greenish yellow, quite viscous. Offering aromas of white pepper, gooseberry and hints of grapefruit. Medium bodied with a fresh acidity, the overall impression is pleasantly harmonious. The finish is juicy and fruit-driven. A signature Federspiel from Grüner Veltliner, subtle and classy.
