The Smaragd wines of the Vinea Wachau count among the dry white wines of the world with the highest potential for longevity. Since 1986 Smaragd stands for Wachau wine culture in its purest essence. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary a cross-section of 25 vintages will be presented which offer a unique view into the special characteristics of the great single vineyards of the Wachau region. Domäne Wachau will be represented not only by one of our wines; our managing director, Roman Horvath MW, will commentate the tasting. It shall be an extraordinary opportunity to assess the ageing potential of the Wachau grand crus.

This special tasting will take place at the bi-annual VieVinum, the peak event of Austrian wine culture. From June 2nd to June 4th, 2012 more that 500 top producers will present their wines to thousands of international connoisseurs, journalists and buyers from the trade. Domäne Wachau will present its fabulous 2011 vintage at its booth – the Smaragd series belongs to the very best of what Austria has to offer the wine world.
