Wachau Panorama
2016 | Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Ried Kaiserberg

Origin: Austria - Wachau | Variety: Grüner Veltliner | Producer: Domäne Wachau

Domäne Wachau is one of Austria’s most renowned wineries, based in Austria’s most prestigious wine growing region, the Wachau. Steep terraced yineyards, a cool, marginal climate and meagre primary rock soils define the wines. “Federspiel” stands for dry, medium bodied and elegantly balanced wines of the Wachau.

Ried Kaiserberg
“Kaiserberg” (the “emperor’s hill”) was the ancient campground of emperor Charlemange who banished the Avars from the Wachau around 800 AD. The vineyard is situated west of Dürnstein. Wines from Kaiserberg are renowned for their superb overall balance and their classical mineral character.

Tasting Note
Along with its lively yellow colour and green glow, there is a succession of intense aromas including Golden Delicious apple, subtle hints of pears and smoky tobacco spices as well as elegant exotic fruits. In the mouth it is a well-balanced, fresh wine with lively acidity, flavorful fruit and well-structured salty character causing it to linger on the palate.

How to enjoy best
Serve chilled at about 9°C. Drink now or store to mature for two or three years. Perfectly accompanies traditional Austrian cuisine as well as spicy Asian-inspired dishes. A versatile accompaniment, the Kaiserberg is the perfect accompaniment to many types of cheese or light fish dishes.
