Seven virtues on Austrian wine

Patrick Schmitt MW gave a thorough overview of the Austrian wine market in his article “Seventh Heaven” published in the prominent trade magazine Drinks Business.

In this fresh report, Austrian wine’s global appeal points to an array of advantages for wine consumers, such as distinctively delicious regional grape varieties, excellent price/quality value and optimal food pairing characteristics. Green-minded production and wine tourism also are key points in the report, as Austria leads in both areas.  Winery director and Master of Wine Roman Horvath lends his views on Austria’s green-minded attitude and Domäne Wachau’s way: “We are convinced that being organic is the right way in the long term, and that it brings that little extra dimension on quality and style” that wine consumers appreciate.

Thanks to Patrick Schmitt for this great summary about our small, but diverse and unique Austrian wine market.
