Wachau Panorama
2019 | Müller Thurgau MTX

Origin: Austria - Wachau | Variety: Müller Thurgau | Producer: Domäne Wachau

Domäne Wachau is one of Austria’s most renowned wineries, based in Austria’s most prestigious wine growing region, the Wachau. Steep terraced yineyards, a cool, marginal climate and meagre primary rock soils define the wines.

Müller Thurgau MTX
The grapes for Müller Thurgau MTX come a single vineyard. It is characterized by steep, 60 year old terraced vineyards with very meagre gneiss and extremely high altitudes. The grape variety Müller Thurgau, also known as Rivaner, is originally from Germany and a crossing of Riesling and Chasselas. Once, the second most important grape variety in Austria, it is no longer very widespread, but mainly found in Lower Austria and Burgenland.

Tasting Note
Medium greenish-yellow; on the nose very open and accessible, intense citrus notes, chamomile, pistachio, ripe quince, some almond and walnut and a smoky spiciness, very multilayered, complex, well-structured and elegant with a racy acidity; great spices and long-lasting; Rivaner in a different way

How to enjoy best
Ideally enjoyed at about 10°C. It is a sophisticated and exciting tasting experience. MTX matches well with steamed fish or light but flavorful starters. Also enjoyed well on its own.
