Wachau Panorama
Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Kollmitz 2010

Origin: Austria - Wachau | Variety: Grüner Veltliner | Producer: Domäne Wachau

Domäne Wachau is one of Austria’s most renowned wineries, based in Austria’s most prestigious wine growing region, the Wachau. Steep terraced yineyards, a cool, marginal climate and meagre primary rock soils define the wines. „Federspiel“ stands for dry, medium bodied and elegantly balanced wines of the Wachau.

Kollmitz is a single-vineyard in the Wachau village of Joching. First records of this prime vineyard site date back to 1151 when it was mentioned as „Cholmunz“. Notable about Kollmitz is that the vines grow on slopes that were carved directly into the deep loess soil without any additional mounting. Grüner Veltliner thrives and prospers extremely well on this mix of loess and brown slate. The wines are particularly spicy and display a high level of elegance. Kollmitz reaches up to approximately 130 metres above the Danube.

Tasting Note
Bright straw yellow color. Boasting fragrant apple blossom, pear and stone- fruit. Discreet and juicy with particular elegance and balance. Dense on the palate with a delicate acidity and a round finish. A delicious and typical Grüner Veltliner.

How to enjoy best
A typical fruit-driven and racy Veltliner for many social occasions. Serve well chilled at 8°C. The wine perfectly accompanies poultry, goat’s – and sheep’s milk cheese, salads, antipasti, soups and light meats. Drink within the first three years after bottling for maximum freshness.
