Vintage 2025: Cool, wild, and full of potential
The 2025 year so far has delivered every kind of weather: an unusually warm and dry winter, several frosty and hail-heavy setbacks in spring, and a cool yet humid summer. Sounds wild? It was. A vintage that will show cool freshness, fine flavours, and precise structure in the glass.
Harvest began in mid-September under stable conditions. By the end of the month, periods of rain repeatedly caused delays, requiring flexibility and precise timing. Early botrytis appeared especially on Riesling, which was carefully removed through hand selection. Grüner Veltliner remained robust and healthy. Thanks to great effort and exact planning, our growers were able to harvest the grapes at their ideal moment all the way into late October. On October 21st, harvest ended – under sunny autumn weather and with excellent fruit quality.
The 2025 wines show cool freshness, fine flavours, and precise structure. Grüner Veltliner presents itself on the leaner side, with subtle spice and fresh acidity, while Riesling appears riper, with a juicy core and vibrant tension. If everything continues to develop as it currently does, 2025 can be summed up in just a few words: vibrant, cool wines with huge potential!
