Sustainability with conviction and impact
For many years, we have been setting new standards in biodiversity and genuine sustainability. Our growers cultivate countless micro-parcels on the Wachau’s steep terraces, contributing significantly to maintaining and preserving this unique cultural landscape. Today, we are the estate with the largest organic vineyard area in Austria – a collective achievement of our growers, who work with skill, knowledge, and precision.
At the core is regenerative viticulture – an approach that goes far beyond organic farming. The goal is to actively support the health and diversity of the vineyard ecosystem. Through organic care, targeted cover crops, biodynamically prepared permanent compost, diverse habitats for beneficial insects, and innovative projects like under-vine cover cropping, we improve soil structure, humus buildup, and water retention.
We view sustainability holistically: ecological, social, and economic aspects in balance. The growers of Domäne Wachau act like many small acupuncture needles, setting impulses across the region and contributing to positive development throughout the Wachau. Our goal is clear – to pass on a landscape and soil to the next generation that continue to improve.
