A total of four Domäne Wachau Smaragd wines from the 2016 vintage are ranked among the best in an international comparison at Wine Enthusiast magazine. Our Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kellerberg 2016 is the leader of the pack with 95 points.

Anne Krebiehl MW, Austrian wine expert at Wine Enthusiast magazine, is recognized as an excellent and critical taster as well as an eloquent writer. In an international comparison in the magazine’s latest issue, Wachau Smaragd wines in general excelled impressively. Among them, our Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kellerberg 2016 achieved the superb rating of 95 points and was predicted to remain at its drinking peak through 2030. It is described with a “taut and streamlined” body and “aromatic mandarin ripeness, along with textured, concentrated yeast flavors that shimmer with soy saltiness”.

Both the Grüner Veltliner and the Riesling Smaragd wines from the Ried Achleiten vineyard achieved 93 points. The Grüner was described as “ringing with purity and verve”, while the Riesling was praised as “salty, lip-smacking and very refreshing”.
The Grüner Veltliner Terrassen Smaragd 2016 was also awarded 93 points, which is impressive recognition of this wine as a truly worthy introduction to the fascinating world of Wachau Smaragd wines.
