Jancis Robinson MW Reviews

The “First Lady of Wine” summarizes the performance of the Domäne Wachau with “This must be one of the best co-ops in the world.”

Jancis Robinson’s educational and encyclopaedic material is an indispensible contribution to the wine world. Much of these resources can be accessed on the “purple pages” of www.jancisrobinson.com along with numerous articles and wine tasting notes.

Jancis Robinson MW was a prominent guest and speaker at the biannual VieVinum wine exhibition this year in Vienna, participating in the Institute of Masters of Wine panel discussion on climate change and wine styles. Well before this event, the British wine critic took the opportunity to taste wines from the Domäne Wachau. She described the 2011 Kellerberg Riesling Smaragd as “creamy textured but very racy, refreshing, and beautifully balanced fruit. Lovely grassy undertones. Very fine with great acidity” and awarded it 17 from 20 points. She gave the 2012 Achleiten Grüner Veltliner Smaragd 16.5 points and praised it with the words, “still youthful but emphatic Grüner that was honeyed on the nose and rich on the palate – despite having very little residual sugar. Very flattering to taste, quite broad. Lots of pleasure here.”
